My paintings are an expression of the complexity of living and how that often makes it difficult, even with the best of intentions, to make good decisions that have a satisfying outcome in particular about important matters in one’s life. This led me to painting imaginary landscapes consisting of structures that resemble houses, buildings, churches and the like. Such imagery serves my ideas well for it is people who build such structures, who live and work within them and it is people who have to negotiate the complexities of living on a daily bases and live with the consequences of their decisions or the decisions others make. (See the "Artist Statement" page for a fuller artist statement.)
